Whenever we enter a vibrant real estate economy, the industry itself becomes inundated with arrivistes. Suddenly everyone's a contractor, a broker or an interior designer. For a homeowner, the task of choosing a contractor carries an added element of risk. Just ask anyone to describe their experience with a major renovation: chances are you'll see their eyes roll. Tales of no-shows, sloppy workmanship and cost overruns are the norm. In 2004 I hired Michael Godbout for the arduous task of rebuilding the entire rear addition to my house from the ground up. That section of the building, which accommodates the kitchen and bath had been built in 1900 and was destined to collapse into the crawl space below due to old termite damage and age. Mike and his crew put in new sills, beams, floors, walls (interior and exterior) and windows. They rewired the electrical and put in all new plumbing. They installed new cabinetry, appliances, plumbing and electrical fixtures, skylights and linoleum flooring. Mike and his men worked every single day until the job was finished. The workmanship is first-rate and the attention to detail is evident in all aspects. Just as important, I always felt secure with Mike's judgment and forthrightness.  I highly recommend him.

Sincerely,

Christopher Gay
